07 Shelby GT Front end
Hello,
Just picked up my new Shelby GT and have a question, its fine on a nice smooth road but off on the side streets at slow speed every bump I hit it sounds and feels like something is loose up front,
any one else notice this?
I thought it was something to do with the Ford Racing springs but not so sure now.

Nobody can say for sure without test driving and inspecting your car. You could have something loose, or your front shocks may need some break in time, or your front shocks might be bad. My 07 GT did the same thing your car diesfor the first 2000 miles. I was about to throw away the shocks when the symptom disappeared. After calling a racing buddy of mine we found that sometimes new shocks work bubbles out of the fluid over time.

could be the dreaded strut bearing "chuckle" that we've been waiting for a fix for a while. There is a new part number for the struct plates and dealers are starting to get them in stock.

I'm not an expert butI am assuming he has the Shelby GT, not the GT 500. The Shelby GT is simply the street version of the Shelby GT-H which is simply a Mustang GT with a few simple modifications. They all share the same front strut mount/bearing.
Shelby GT modifications Specifically:
FRPP Handling pack - springs (Eibock), sway barsand Multimatic shocks
FRPPPower pack - CAI and tune
3.55Rear End
Cosmetics such as the shelby sig, thehood scoop and GT-H front fascia.
There are several forums discussing this issue, and one Shelby GT500 owner who recenty had his strut mount replaced to correct the problem. Here is the thread from this forum, very long, look at the last few pages.

As I said, I may be wrong, but there is a good chance they share the same strut bearing, unlessFord has wised up andis producing the new Shelby GTs with the new part.

The bearing i guess could be the same but for the most part the parts are different. But if the bearing is the problem that is causing all the peoples clunks and thunks then that could be it.

After my first set of suspension mods I had a clunking noise in my front suspension. After weeks of troubleshootingit turned out to be a loose fastener between the front swaybar and front swaybar endlink. Tightened it up and the clunking noise was gone.
Hope this is of some help.

I noticed the noise on mine with 50 miles on the clock. The noise is most likely the strut mount.
8R3Z-18183-B is the P/N for the new strut mount. The new mount was incorporated into 08 production only. It should cure the problem.
See the following.
