Suspension Mod Problems
Hello everybody. I have been lurking here for quite some time and let me thank you for all the useful information you guys have put up here.
Just a quick intro, my car is an 06 GT coupe with the following mods:
CAI w/ SCT 93 tune
Flowmasters
Eibach Pro Springs
Eibach front & rear sway bars
Tokio D-Spec Shocks
BMR LCAs
BMR Adjustable Panhard bar + support
BMR A-Arm Support
Before I put these parts on, I did not have any problems what so ever. After I have put about 300 miles on the new suspension, all of a sudden I have this clunking noise coming from the front passenger side. Scared the heck out of mewhen I heard it the first time.I have been down there to inspect every part I had replaced and re-checked the hardware torque. (I did re-use the old hardware) This clunking noise happens when I push down on the fender or push side to side on the front of the car. The only bolt I am questionable about is the upper bolt for the sway bar link. I cannot tighten it so that it is snug. I tried to move the link by hand and didn't notice any irregular movement. I have been looking over all the posts here and sounds like there are lots of problems with clunking. Could there be something else that I did not replace that is now a problem after I installed the new suspension? I know there are many threads on this but I have looked over and over again and with no luck. By the way, the car now has 24,000 miles on it.
Any help is appreciated. I am atthe end of my rope and am about to take it back into a shop to have them look it over.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Hey there,
It will be one of the two fixes I'm about to give you .
1) your sway bar end link nut's need to be torqued to 85 ft pounds ! or you will get the noises you are having. ( The nuts are a one time part also, some people have used locktite and that might work for awhile.
2) The upper strut mount baring that goes on top of your spring on the front strut... ARE A ONE TIME ONLY PART , some people get away and can use them a second time but not for long before the clunking and popping noises will happen ! (look into Steeda for camber plates) the oem ones are cheap plastic and fail all the time !
hoped this helped some

Thanks for the info. Turns out it was the bolt on the sway bar end link. I got pretty creative in tightening it and now not more noise. Who makes end links for the sway bars? When I did the install, I noticed that these end links must be as thin as foil since they only weigh a few grams.
Thanks again.
