front end popping fix?
2005 Mustang GT. Lowered. New popping sound within the couple months. I put my car on the rack, Tighten everything. It is all good.
But Popping sound is still there. L & R turning.
My mechanic thinks I need something like this from steeda
http://www.steeda.com/products/heavy...nts_street.php
Anybody familure with this FIX???
Any other fix, I dont really want to spend $300.00
I know about the factory bearing issue. But I hear they just wear down again anyway.
Please help,
Michael

RE: front end popping fix?
If its whenever you turn the steering wheel hard left/right, or even when you just steer the car, then yeah its the strut mounts. The OEM ford ones are crap when you lower the vehicle it throws off the geometry for the OEM bearing in there and it almost immediately fails. But there are other HD strut mounts out there other than steeda...though not priced much different I think.

RE: front end popping fix?
I have the Steeda HD Adjustable Strut Mount - Excellent piece!! If you have lowered the vehicle and need to set the camber or are looking for custom camber, this is an easy and very robust way to kill two birds with one stone. A much better way to do the adjustment than camber bolts IMO. It makes the car feel very solid and no increase in NVH.
Also, don't forget to check the sway bar end link bolts, these getting looseis the most common reason I have had popping going over bumps since I did my suspension upgrade. The bolts are for one or two uses only and then I would suggest just buying new end links from Ford. I got mine online OEM for about $60 for the pair. Torque to spec 85 ft-lb and don't forget to use locktite.
Here is where I ordered mine from - fast and good price.
