Default Eibach Spring Noise

I'm having a problem with a rubbing/grinding type of noise from the right rear of my car. It happens when you turn into a driveway as the car twists. This started after the Eibach Pro Kit springs were installed. There is no noise from the left rear??? The installer has done over a hundred Mustangs with these springs and can't find the problem with mine. I called Eibach and the tech said they have not had any problems with REAR spring noises. Has anyone else had this problem, and more importantly, found a solution?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

found this while readin' up on the
issue...

Many online Mustang forums have been abuzz with chatter from dissatisfied customers who, after installing aftermarket springs in their new 'stang, were treated to unsettling clicks and pops resulting from the mis-match of the new springs with the Ford factory spring seat - a plastic part installed to help reduce NVH, which was designed to accept a properly clocked spring. When the springs are a half turn off, they create a torque on the plastic seat that causes the seat to separate and fail, resulting in annoying clicking and popping sounds.

Thanks for the replys.

I called a performance shop here called Apex Motorsports. They suggest never installing high rate lowering springs without also using new shocks, struts and an upper strut mount with proper HD bearing and camper adjustment.

That doesn't really address my noise issue but it got me considering switching to Steeda Ultra Light springs, HD upper strut mount and Pro Action shocks and struts.

Maybe with the Steeda parts all engineered to work together the car will be "happy" and quit with all the noise issues. I think I would also get new Ford upper and lower spring rubber spring seats.

Comments????

I may not be a whole lot of help here, but I've had my eibach springs on for about three months and have had no problems or noise. I'm still running stock shocks and struts for now.

so do you have to replace the rear spring seat with a new factory piece? I thought the steeda upper strut mounts were only for the front? So they wouldn't replace the rear one also.

what hammeron said. i have read on here about the muffler rubbing at the back . look for signs . here is something from steeda about the front endto look at to ,just remember if you change the angle of the dangle watch out for the notch in the crotch.

Steeda Upper Strut Mounts - HD
[555-8120]
$279.95

A heavy duty, direct replacement upper strut mount to replace the weak factory mounts for S197 Mustangs that can be used on the street! The Steeda street heavy duty upper strut mounts are manufactured to the same exacting tolerances as our industry leading caster/camber plates. They utilize a roller bearing that exceeds OEM specs to ensure precise suspension control. Will not fail on lowered cars like the factory piece. These upper mounts eliminate the "popping" sound that is common on lowered cars when the factory upper mount fails. Unlike the factory piece, you can also get an extra 1 degree of camber in each direction with these plates as well. Steeda's heavy duty upper mounts are specifically designed for street use and will not show any increase in NVH when installed. Price includes a set of two.
