change in wheels, change in offset

change in wheels, change in offset
I recently replaced my OEM 17" X 8" machine-faced alloys with American Muscle 18" X 9" (F), and 18" X 10" (R) Deep Dish Bullit wheels. The new wheels have a positive offset of +1.34" (F) and + 1.77" (R). The OEM wheels look like a negative offset, as the mounting surface is closer to the outside of the wheel. Using the method to measure offset in Fred Puhn's How to Make Your Car Handle, I measure the OEM offset as negative 2.56". (Page 129 for anyone like me geeky enough to have the book.) The newwheels fit fine and I haven't noticed any adverse handling traits in street driving for about 2 weeks. My concern is whether I should anticipate accelerated wear on the wheel bearings or any other suspension problems. Thanks.
