Check you air pressure, make shure it is the same in both your rear tires. You cango about 1 or 2 psi lower in yourdriver side rear. Because these cars hook a little to the right when you hammer it from a stop.
Youcan take the pressure down to about 28 or 30 psi.

Its the weather. I run these same tires at 30 psi in the front and 35 psi in the back for daily driving. I never have an issue with traction. I am also never in temps under 60 degrees though.

"I am also never in temps under 60 degrees though. "- must be nice as I look out of my window watching them clean up after a big snow storm!

It's possible that the tempurate difference effects nitrogren more than air. For example: My car's tire presure in the morning (35 deg.) is around 24, and by the time i'm done with my 1 hr commute its at 31 psi with air. It's possible that Nitrogren cold is at 31 psi, but expands to 36, or even 40 when it's warm.
Actually, pure nitrogen is better than air (80% nitrogen, 18% Oxygen, 2% Other) in that it is not affected as much by temperature differences. It is the oxygen molecule that expands and contracts with higher and lower temperatures. That is why all aircraft, NASCAR, and NASA's shuttle fleet use nitrogen in their tires. So you will maintain a more constant pressure over various temperatures.

Another reason nitrogen is used is that the nitrogen molecule has a larger diameter than the oxygen molecule and takes longer to work its way out of a tire. So you will maintain your pressure longer than with air. This is how the nitrogen dealers can say that nitrogen in your tires will get you better MPG.

iluvmycar - Your summer tires in cold weather = loss of traction. A good UCA and LCAs could help keep your tires maintain better contact with the road and help a little bit. But warmer weater will help a lot!

Does any know whatminimum temperature range is suggested for the BFG KDW2's to give me some idea of when I will need to switch to the rims with the Blizzaks or equivalent.

My car is going to be a DD, except when it snows I'll either work from home or take public transit.

Sleeper_08,

Tire rack recommends changing to winter tires when the temps fall below 45 degrees.

the kdw2s are considered a all weather tire. they will do decent in any weather. as for the thread startee, dont feel bad about the traction. everyone has that prob when it gets colder. if my tires are cold and the roads cold then i can fishtail 2 lanes from a 60 roll in 3rd!. just heat your tires up and they will grip a little better.

UrS4

Thanks.

For us Canadians that translates to7 C whichmeans I can use them for at least 7 months of the year.
