Default D-Spec strut annoyance....

I have D-Specs struts/shocks and both center/top nuts keep working their way loose. It only really happens when the car is under boost conditions. Any ideas why this is happening

Also I want to thank Modaddict...you saved me from making a pretty costly mistake. I DEFINATELY don't want/need a 600+ HP car. I like having my stang a daily street car if need be...not a commuter car by far with skyrocketing gas prices. but sinking another $12+ K into that car is just IMHO unnecessary. 452HP/411TQ is more than plenty and after a couple weekends ago's neck/neck jaunt with a AWD SRT8 Cherokee. Yeah, I'm not young and invincible any more...

Also anyone have some input for downgrading clutches here? I want to downgrade from the SPEC Stage III to a Stage I. Its rated at 418lbs of TQ so I was thinking that would suffice for what I want the car for. I don't plan on making this car a regular track shredder.

I wouldn't go to the Stage 1 as it might slip and you would be unhappy. Stage 2 + would be good and from what I've heard, it's much easier than most Stage 2 types.

As far as the D-Specs go. These are the back shocks we're talking about correct? If so, make sure there is a bushing in the interior of the car, between the cap and the nut. Then make sure there is one between the body and the top of the shock.

To tighten, use an 8mm wrench on the top of the rod, where the adjustment portion is, and tighten. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. I did this and learned my lesson. I had to purchase a shock that I ruined due to over tightening.

Hope that helps.

seems to be kind of odd that both struts are doing it. So could the installation be botched?

That's my vote.

You might try my suggestion from up above. Mine were creeking and squeeking until I realized I had not tighten them properly. Then the rubber bushing staretd squeeking. I greased them and the problem was solved.
