Default Anyone tried Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3??

I just ordered a couple and thought I'd ask Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. How do they compare to the nitto555 at the strip or to other popular tires. I got em in the stock 18' size... I should have asked before I ordered... should be able to cancel still if have to...

thanks

Many people like them, I do not [sm=smiley21.gif]

I found them to have lots of crawl while cornering. Looking at the tread pattern compared with my PS2's, it is easy to understand why now.

***HERE*** is a review of them I wrote back in October of last year.

I have the Eagle F1 all-season's (see my sig), mainly because I travel north frequently and still can't let go of that winter driving "spasm". They're a vast improvement over the OEM BFG's. However, if you have the stock 18" wheels (assuming they're 18 x 8.5), I'd have gone with the 255's over the stock 235's.

I havefour 255/45/18 Eagle F1's on my 07 GT. I have about 10,00 mile on them andwould not recommend them as a sticky tire on dry pavement, if you are looking for traction off the line. My 60ft timesare terrible with these tires. I will go with Nitto 555's whenthe F1's wear out.

Hi mjk,

Horses for courses. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's are not good drag strip tires anymore than Nitto 555'sare good road course or canyon tires. If you only want drag strip performance rear tires go buy yourself some nice all-season tires for your street wheels and get a spare set of rear wheels andsome slicks to mount on them.

HTH!

You make a good point F1Fan, but I was hoping for a compromise. I'm hoping for improved launch traction for a fairly stock GT manual. I went to the track and ran a best of 14.6 with TCS on and completely stock M5 gt vert. I either bogged or spun on the pretty worn all season tires with TCS off and ran a best of 14.8. I just put in a CL and 93 tune so it should slightly improve my time if I hook. Since I didnt mention, I was running 2.3x to 2.4x 60", so I think traction took its toll...

I am now looking at these:

Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
and

Direzza Sport Z1
Should I not even bother with anything less than R compund?

Thanks for your time.

edit: i was thinknig about 245-45-18 for the Star Spec or 235-40-18 for the Z1

Tread pattern is identical along with treadwear rating, so I don't think you will find much difference between the two. The Star Spec seems to be a little more specialized for track and autoX so may be a better choice, based on your needs.

Either will be an improvement over your current tires. Why are you considering different sizes for each model?
