Default Excessive Rear Pad Wear

Has anyone had any problems with their rear brake pads wearing out faster than their front pads? My car has 33,000 miles on it but they are all highway miles and they are the origional pads. The front are just short of 50% and the rear are at 25%. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I see you have a linelock, but if you have been doing a lot of burnouts, the rears will wear faster. Also if you activate the TCS, it applies the rear brakes which will reduce rear pad life.

The rear pads that ford uses are real soft and will not last has long.I changed them on my friends 06 gt,about 35k on it,and there was only another couple of days left before steel on steel.

Thanks for the info guys. The line lock isolates the front brakes from the rear. It locks the front but not the rear. As soon as I get the car back from the dealer (Other issues. See 4.6 technical discussions " 2007 Gasket Problems") I will take a look to see if it is working properly. The theory in the operation should exlude what you are thinking but, if it is not working properly you could be on to something. It just might be applying the rear brakes enough to contribute to the problem. As far as the TCS, there has been a couple of times I forgot to turn it off, but at the track I use my programmer to shut the TCS off so that I don't do that in the burnout box. Thanks again guys!

Didn't know about the softness issue on the rear brake pads. I have a new set of aftermarket "Ceramic" pads in the garage waiting to be installed. Thanks for the help "charliebrown".

Yeah i meant to say, i don't know how long you had the linelocks and how many burnouts you did before them, but it probably is just your soft pads. I'm using hawk hps pads on my car, and i like them much better than the ford ones.
