Try a little spray assembly lube on the threads every time you use it.

Thanks Norm but when you have cheap metal, you have cheap metal.
The threads are stretched after several uses...
Still no excuses, I should buy a good one but I don't do enough of these.
Especially since I don't do a lot of collision anymore.

So, let me get this straight. I have the Pro-Sport springs on stock struts right now. I have a set of D-Specs waiting to go in. When I install these, I won't have to have to rent a spring compressor? I like the idea using coat hangars. Even if the springs expand a little, the hangars should hold them tight enough to assemble by hand.

Cheers!

renting a spring compressor is free... why the hell would you risk it trying to rig something up?

To the OP:

They worked just fine for me, you don't have to worry about renting a fubar set from autozone, etc. etc. Just put a bit o grease on the threads before and clear them off after.

I love doing things myself but I pretty much insist on having the right tools for the job. Makes things a lot less stressful.

For my 08 I was not able to do this as there were a couple of rubber/plastic parts required from the old assembly.

I had to use a spring compressor to get the stock springs off the stock struts. But when putting the Steed springs on the new struts, they were short enough to push down a little by hand and get the nut started. So didn't need a spring compressor to put the shorter springs back on. That saved some time.

Here is the link to the Steeda upper strut mount installation instructions http://www.steeda.com/directions/555...rut-mounts.pdf

Per the instructions;
"3. With the strut and spring disassembled, remove the factory upper strut
mount. Then remove the rubber spring seat from the factory upper strut
mount Pic 1& 2
4. Remove the spring seat base from the new assembly. Insert the new spring
base into the factory rubber spring seat. Be sure to keep the billet spring
seat base face up to prevent disturbing the bearing inside. Pic 3"

In addition on my 08 there was a plastic wrap around the lower part of the factory coil and I was advised to install this on the new springs.
