tps sensors?
i just bought a 2008 gt 5spd and have installed tokico shocks/h&r springs/steeda sway bars. i got some gt500 wheels from a donor car, but the tire pressure sensors are gone. i plan on using the oem wheels for track days (17's), but they still have the stock tires on them with the sensors. i do not want to remove the tires (cost) yet. what will be the worst that will happen if i use the gt500 wheels with no sensor, for street use?
By the way, i signed up for this forum becuase if seems to be the most knowledge based forum. this is also my first mustang and am psyched![/B]

Welcome - this is the place if you are psyched.
Mine is also my first Mustang and I've been waiting since they first came out!
Why don't you want to use the GT500 wheels for track days? You can get a lot more rubber on them. I'm ruuning rims that are comparable to them (18 x 9.5 with 45 mm offset) with 285/40/18 tires in the summer.

thanks for the input, i am asumming that the indicator will not be illuminated? after i reset the system. BTW where is the reset button.
i thought the seventeen oem's would have less unsprung weight and would be running the oem tires until i can afford some beter tires. didn't want to use up the tires that came with the gt500 wheels (to expensive to use as dailies and track tires). while on the subject what did you do about that terrible brakes. is it worth just replacing pads, fluids and lines?

wouldn't takeoff oem gt500 wheels have a tps sensor? i'm still trying to figure out why a factory wheel won't have the sensor and why i'm going to have to push the reset button everytime i drive my car. lol

The stock calipers and rotors are fine, in fact pretty good. Its the pads that are so-so. But then they are quite and don't really dust. If you want no fade and better braking performance upgrade your pads and fluid. But...it comes at a cost, the better (as in more race oriented) the pad, the more noisy and more dust. Everything is a trade off. On the street, SS lines aren't going to do anything for you. When I put them on I didn't feel any difference. On the track...thats a different story due to the extreme temps.
as for the tpm sensors they were removed for the new set that went on the gt500 donor car (brothers, wheels were FREE).
as for the breaks, i will be using the car monthly at local DE/TT events, these are some pretty high speed events and don't want to wast time and money on calipers that won't hold and rotors that a what 13"?
So if any one has road raced on hps pads and synthetic fluid with ss lines, please leave your comments.
