Default Strut Mounts

I am planning on installing some springs and struts on my GT. I was considering replacing the strut mounts to try to avoid noise issues later and was planning to do either the GT500 mounts or the Steeda HD Strut Mounts. Is there a noticeable difference between the stock type mounts and the Steeda Mounts in terms of performance, turn in, or ride quality?

Thanks,
Blair

What springs are you looking into? Check with Sam Strano www.stranoparts.com. He would be more than happy to discuss your needs and point you in the right direction. The Steeda mounts only allow for a small amount of camber adjustment but are a quality product. I use and love them. Any of the aftermarket mounts will probably cure/prevent the noise issues. Which ones you go with depends on your springs/drop.

I am planning on using either H&R Sports or H&R OS Sports. My car is a daily driver, but I do autocross occasionally and do open track events. I don't want to use the stock mounts if they are going to fail because of the lowering or the track use.

Well, the GT500 mounts made the front end of my car both smoother and a lot quieter. They are firmer than the stock GT mounts and you don't have to struggle with getting the old mounts off your old shocks. I don't know anything about Steeda's mount except that I'm impressed with the quality of everything they sell!

You will definitely want to replace your stock mounts. The H&R sports aren't an extreme drop so the Steeda HD's will probably work just fine. I noticed less noise (actually my front is completely silent, and now my rear as well once I removed the rod-end parts). Steering response is also improved.

I thought the steering response was slightly better after the HD steeda mounts. I bought them solely to prevent having to take the suspension apart a second time because of clunks. So far, so good.

Thanks for all the replies. I am leaning towards the Steeda mounts, but am wondering if they justify the higher price. After all, you can get 5 pairs of GT500 mounts for 1 pair of Steeda mounts...
