Default Steering Noise

I have a 2000 V6 convertible with same problem, I live in lebanon so you can imagine its hard to find a detailed explanation - anyway, the mechanics took the wheel off and discovered that the ball joint that links the suspension strut to the wishbone, was wearing and had perished the rubber sock, which allowed the joint to dry and also put extra strain on the rack when steering - or even just driving slow and straight. The lubrication in the steering rack was also low and when they did a temp repair to the ball joint, and totally regreased the joints, it helped, but now i need to try and find new ball joints (they called them 'eggs') However, they weren't remotely concerned about any possible steering failure - just an annoying noise to them but the car is very strong.
