Default Tires wearing in center - Pilot sport A/S

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires.
I am hard on tires, and noticed the center wear quite a bit. The part that concerns me is that the mid-center to outside has a lot of tread that is not getting used.
I am assuming that they just had too much air, but wondered if anyone else had experience with these tires.

I'm not familiar with those tires, but higher than needed air pressure is the usual cause. I can't see a basic street tire being that much different from others that it will wear differently for anything aside from normal reasons.

What air pressure were you running, as I imagine you checked it. Were the tires warm when you checked them, as the pressure will differ between warm and cold?

Sounds like the tire is doing this / on the drivers side and this \ on the passenger side. having an alignment check done. Sounds like you've got too much negative camber.

I just reread the thread, and Derf's response. Now I'm confused after looking at your post again. Is the problem in the center of the tire, or off to one side on each tire? You mention both in your post, lending to some confusion. That would make a huge difference in what to look at.

Your symptom is usually caused by over pressure. I have the same tires and they're wearing fine. I usually run 2 PSI over the factory recommendation.

+1 on negative camber causing the wear from the center to the inside of the tire, especially on the front tires. These cars are designed with a slight amount of negative camber on the front tires in order to improve handling, and it can cause them to wear like you're describing even if they are rotated, balanced, and pressure checked regularly(Been there, done that). However, you should get the alignment checked, as suggested by Derf00, to make sure that the camber settings are not excessively negative, which will accelerate the wear rate.

If its on the rear tires in the center it could be your heavy foot + 4.10s otherwise you may be overinflating tires. what PSI are you running?

If you are lowered up front, your camber is out of spec.
If it is the inside edge and not the center of the tread
as the posts name would suggest.
How bout a pic so there is no confusion.
Wear in the center is too much air pressure, always.

Ran into the same problem on the wife BMW. Couldn't figure out why the centers were wearing out - tires were not over inflated. Guy at the tire store explained what causes the center to wear out & look like over inflation - cars that spend a large percentage of there mileage on the highway at high speed - wife averages 85.

Sorry I left you all hanging for so long. I apologize, I didn't mean it to sound like camber.
I meant that the center was wearing more than the outside (both sides). I bought these used though, but did not notice the difference right off.
I agree with you guys that it is overinflation, and I will keep an eye out for the camber.
I did notice another problem though while looking closely at the tread. The outside edges of the tires on the front are getting worn...so maybe back to the camber issue, or just me cornering too hard. I am serious though, the very outside of the tire, as almost if there is not enough air, and it is rolling. The tread is starting to crack on the edge of each ****, but only on the front. It is probably just me being a rediculous tire. I can't expect things to last if I have fun. I have another pair of these Pilot Sport A/S on their way.

Overall, the main reason this tripped me up, is because the Pilot Sport by design has a lower center, so you would think it would flatten even or wear more on the outside, but I am seeing the opposite.
Either way, thanks again guys for jumping on this so quickly.
