I am running an STB and bought mine before I learned about their "benefits" but got it partly because of the looks.

However as I'm running 285/40/18s on the front and can pull 1 G lateral on a road course I figure it can't hurt. It would be interesting to put strain guages on it to see if it is actually taking any stress, especially if I switch to R-comps next year. Also having 445 flywheel HP helps to twist the chassis a bit.

Mine is from Roush and it pretty rugged

I know that you're serious about track days Sleeper, and the only way it could hurt is to add more front end weight which our cars do_not_need.

This is what impressed me the most about the S197 chassis:

So, if I wanted a tighter ride I should lower it with a good set of springs and possibly change out the shocks for an aftermarket set?

If useless, why do so many companies make them? I had an '04 GTO before this and it came with one stock and I think that car out handled my Mustang anyday, I thought that may have been some of the difference. Or I am just a moron.

Thanks for the throttle body spacer tip. I already have one but I guess I can just take it off.
The OEM Strut Tower brace didnt make your SN95 stang outhandle a non strut tower
brace equipped S197 stang. It might have helped bout 10%. The S197s are much stiffer
round the strut towers and dont benifit as much from a brace like the weaker
unibody SN95s did.
If I did install a strut tower brace, it would not be a two point one but a proper
3 point strut tower brace that utilizes the firewall to add to the bracing....
Edelbrock makes a mean 3 point brace for bout $150.

Why do so many companies make them??

Because they are profitable that's why. A $30 part retails for $300 when they sell a supercharger it costs $4000 to make and they make $5000. It's much better business to sell 3 strut tower braces than 1 supercharger. Why are there so many companies selling payday loans? Why does everyone want you to refinance your house? Why does every retail outlet offer their own credit card?

Economics are driven by profitable merchandise. It's an unfortunate system but hopefully you'll be better off making educated decisions in the future.

Well whatever it may be it's a good deal. Im surprise how much bashing you've taken for this. I mean really, a strut tower brace has started all this but a Cobra on a v6 and people say RIGHT ON!!! wow what has this forum come to... :/

Yeah these people are very bad for not backing a product who's advertising which indicates it increases your handling amounts to BS and fooled a buyer.

Those people on s197forums.com are completely awesome. There people (as all cool people do) worship cars that have these, unlike POS folks here ha ha:

strut tower braces

electric superchargers

+4 mpg +30% torque performance chips

turbonators

downforce wings which are parallel to the floor pane of the car or angled upward

MRT Aeroturbine mufflers, manufacturer claims increase your MPG 25%

That brace is BS as well. What people think is the firewall is just a fascia. The actual firewall is about 10 inches behind that.
