Default Which Springs w/ Koni Yellows??

Well my awesome Wife bought me a new set of Koni yellows for Christmas and now I need a set of springs. I do auto-x my car quite a bit, so I'm looking for suggestion. I'm currently running the Saleen Race Craft set up and don't want to reuse the springs from it. I'm leaning toward Steeda Comps.....???

Also, I'll be swapping out the front sta bar, any suggestion on a new front and rear??

Current set up....2006 GT - 5 spd - Saleen Super Charger - 19" wheels - 3.55

Thanks in advance! This site has always been a great source of info and data!

Happy to help, since you know.... autocross is something I do along with selling such parts too.

I'd be happy to discuss springs with you, as well as bars. I designed my own set of bars, which are both adjustable, both hollow, and sized to work for handling purposes. They are not drag bars, or super heavy solid bars.... They are light, and meant to allow fine tuning via the 3 adjustments at both ends (giving a number of combinations).

Note that Steeda Comps are not all that stiff. And in fact if you didn't have a blower I'd not recommend them because on a car without one they tend to not lower the front enough and the spring rate is a bit high for good balance with the most common bar sized. I got my bar balanced on them, but it took full stiff on the rear bar, full soft on the front. Later I changed springs to a set that had a closer front to rear ratio and the balance improved which allowed me to soften the rear bar (leaving me adjustment room both ways).

If you'd like to talk shop, so to speak. Please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks Sam! I've seen a few of your other responses and it really does seem like you are a good source of info.

What spring would you recommend in lue of the Steeda's? I do like the lower look of the FR springs. I didn't think my Saleen set up lowered the car enough.

I like the idea of a hollow front bar to take some of the weight off it, so I'll probably hit you up for a set of them!!

Koni yellows are the SA shocks, right? Where in the h*** did your wife find those? I have had mine on back order since early August, and this because of a supply problem from Koni themselves, I was told....

And you can call Koni if you'd like to verify. 800-922-2616.

There might be some hole in wall place who has some..... But anyone who moves a lot of 'em is out, out, out. But we'll be the first to get supplied when they come back in too.

I don't know what is going on.... I've tried to answer this 3 times.

Once more: I'd recommend Ultralites if you want to be lower than Sports. The rates are well balanced and they are another 1/4" or so further down. Beyond that is just getting to be too far.

Well the Koni saga goes on.....what appeared at Christmas to be just a lost UPS shipment of my front Koni's has now become the same issue everyone else is having. I can not get the front struts. The company my wife bought them from has been calling there supplier to find out timing. So for now it looks like I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I have a funny feeling that the fronts never existed???

I just called Koni, they have 185 on back order with no ETA on when they will ship. They did confirm that it is the sta-bar bracket that caused the stop ship. If they are having this big of a problem with a simple bracket maybe I should shop around for somthing else??? Looks like I may be swapping mine for D-Specs???

They exist... I have two sets myself. Yes, this backorder thing is a freaking nightmare. Koni NA is all over Koni Holland about it. I was told that heads are rolling over this mess (by someone @ Koni). Believe me, when I hear they are coming I'll post up because I have a huge number of those backorders for myself and my customers.

The bracket is subcontracted, and it's not up to what Koni wants to see for fit. Would you prefer a whole shock that is subpar? Tokico D-spec is your next best choice for adjustables, but the damper itself it not nearly as good. Be pissed, I don't blame you, I am too. But to imply that the issue somehow means they are idiots and can't built a good shock is insane, and frankly shortsighted. The bracket issue is a big deal to them because they don't want something out there that isn't up to scratch.
