Default Front strut and lowering spring install

I plan on installing my Steeda Ultralight and Koni setup tomorrow. I have some cheap spring compressors, but they seem like they could slip off at any second and go shooting across the garage at 200mph.
Has anyone tried placing a jack under the a-arm and decompressing the assembly while still on the car? Will the a-arm drop low enough to relieve spring pressure? What about the a-arm angle when dropped that low. I have 2 floor jacks and jack stands. Anyone have some input on this?

I havent heard of anyone doing it that way. What spring compressors do you have? I know craftsman's work.

I think I got the compressors at Advanced Auto Parts 10 years ago. Basically just hooks over the coils with a piece of allthread inbetween. The shape of the hook is all that holds it on the coil. I have seen some newer ones that have a pin that is inserted after the compressor is slipped over the coil to keep it from flying off.

dont know about the new body style, but i did my springs that way. un hook everything. put a jack under the A arm and lower it slowly. have to have the car raised up on jackstands for it to go low enough, but it will. just have to use a pry bar to get the springs loose, but they wont go shooting across the room. spring compressor would have been easier probably though

Well I guess I will give the spring compressors another shot. The rate on these factory springs is pretty light. Shouldnt be a big deal.
