Widest All Year Round Tires

Widest All Year Round Tires
I have heard of people fitting 305/15 tires on a 9.5" wide rim. Although, I don't know of any, or close to any, all year round for 18" rims. IS 285 the widest tire I will be able to fit on 18"? Thank you for your help.

I run 285/40/18 on 18 x 9.5 x 45 mm offset rims in the summer. Have slight rubbing on front on full lock after lowering.
It also tends to "tramline" with tires this wide.

I don't believe 305's on a 9.5" wheel is advisable. Check the tire specs on some of the tire websites.
I don't understand what you're asking about 18" wheels. Do you mean " IS 285 the widest tire I will be able to fit on 9.5"? " I believe 285 is as wide a tire as most manufacturers recommend on a 9.5" wheel. And, there are plenty of all-season (is that what you meant by all year?) tires available in 18" Or did I read that wrong, too?
My 275's tramline pretty bad on truck-worn roads. I'd do 255's up front if I had to do it over.

From what I read Anything 285 and wider needs to go on 10" wheels, 275 can work on 9.5" but alot of the wheel calculators will say a 285 not a recognized size like mine for example , I run 20 " now up from my stock 19's, here is what the calc. says a 285/35/20 rim recommended
Rim Width Range: 7.5 - 9 in (stock 19)
Rim Width Range: Unrecognized tire size. (new 20 no rim indicated)
i have 20x8.5 up front w/ 255's and 20x10 on rear w/ 295's
I used 285 as a example to show how a wheel calc. did not recommend a rim width, actually the 285 was a size I was consdering in future to getr a higher sidewall but they cost more than the 295's.

You can get away with slightly wider for VERY short durations. Like a day at the dragstrip, where you only drive a mile or so at a time, and swap back to a tire-wheel width combination that falls within tire mfr recommendations before driving home.
Looking quickly, I don't see any all-season tires in that size either. Pirelli offers a performance winter/snow tire, though.
Best option would be to run the 285/40's for eight to ten months and something narrower and more winter-friendly on the OE 17's or 18's the rest of the time.
