Default 2011 Springs

Anyone lowered their new 5.0 yet. Need advice.

Contacted Eibach and they said the 2011 springs will be different and are not ready yet. I noticed no difference previously between the earlier V6 and V8 cars. Why not use the same ones they have for the 2010s on the new cars?

Steeda is using the same 2010 sport springs for their new range of cars featuring the 5 litre.

Also noticed that the 2010 and 2011 FRPP springs have a 1 inch drop now instead of the 11/2 inch that were on the ones for my '06 GT. Why? Are they better handling/riding now regarding higher front roll centre.

Vapor Trails: Are you pleased with the Steeda Sports and D-spec combination? Can't see why that wouldn't work on the 2011.

Any musings, opinions etc?
Mostly dd but the odd intense track-day.

Thanks,
Cheers.

Isn't the new car a little heavier? This might be of greater concern if you're designing progressive or bi-linear springs, and might take a little longer than simply stretching the free length of a linear spring design out enough to compensate.

Less drop on a strut/stick axle car usually means that the handling balance shifts less as it transitions (while roll is actually developing or changing as in a slalom). Camber change when the car rolls is a little more favorable with less drop (maybe "less unfavorable" is more accurate where struts are concerned, which amounts to the same comparison as long as we're only talking about one particular chassis). And axle roll steer will be a tiny bit less understeerish (something you may not notice).

Thanks for the reply Norm.

Probably better, at the moment, if I want to lower the 5.0 (which I do) to go ahead with the Steeda sports rather than wait for Eibach or FRPP's springs. Seems most think linear springs are best anyway.

Cheers.
