Suspension install shop help
#11
I'm at Hunter and I found a good place in Hardeevile SC that instaled everything for me. The car looks and handles great, except that there is now a noise coming from the rear end. I took it to the dealer and the have figured out that it's the BMI adjustable PHB causing the noise. The PHB doensn't have any rubber or polyurathane bushings so it transmits all the vibrations. I was sceptical of this at first but the dealer put on the stock PHB and the noise was gone. So now I have to order one with bushings and I should be good to go.

First, see if there is a rod end replacement that uses either poly or stiff rubber in whatever thread size fits. I know there's at least one such item, but don't recall the size offhand. About the fourth picture down here.
That way, you'd at least be able to salvage most of the PHB that you already have. You might even be able to get away with replacing the chassis side rod end only.

Norm, I was looking at that link and saw toward the bottom of the page some protective boots that go over the rod ends to keep the dirt out. What is your opinion of those? Do you think it's worth it? I have roto joints on mine and noticed that the grease that leaks out collects all kinds of tiny rocks around the joint.

Anything that keeps dirt, mud, water. etrc., out of the joint can only extend its life (or at least the length of time before the noise gets to you). Jon's experience was that they're pretty tough to install. Hopefully that corresponds to good seal protection but I don't have any firsthand experience.
There's also a "seals-it" product that is also intended to protect rod ends but which is probably easier to install. May or may not be as effective. You might find that in the circle track catalogs and supply houses.
