Default D/R vs Actual slicks

I am trying to figure out if anyone runs actual slicks on their 2010-2011 mustangs? Is it because some of the classes require you to run a D/R or is it because you just drive it to the track and race without having to change tires. Since I plan on changing tires at the track, I'm looking at a Goodyear
30 tall, 9 wide and 15 inch rim. My next question is if someone runs actual slicks will these tires mounted on a 15 x 8 with 5.5 inch backspace fit the car without rubbing. The D/R tires are new to me as I have only ever used Slicks,
but need to be educated.

Thanks,

Terry
