EBC Bluestuff?
I like them a lot. Initial bite and steady state braking is more aggressive than the Yellow, which is a compound I was happy with. With the Yellow, I could occasionally get pad fade toward the end of a 30 minute session. Keep in mind, that my experience is based on using an RA1 (and 555RII), and right now is using NT05 tires--not the stickiest tire--and the Brembo GT500 calipers up front. It's important to keep in mind that pad compound reviews really need to state what tire they are used with (and track speeds, and weather, etc...
).
The Yellow compound is actually fine for sticky street tires (i.e. ~200 treadwear) and up to an RA1 type of tire (treadwear of ~100). The Blue, based on feel, will be great for at least an RA1/NT01. Based on my brother's feedback--he's been using them on his '06 GTO with BFG-R1's and Hoosier R6's--they are great with a stickier tire, too. He is hard on the brakes and his GTO is several hundred pounds heavier than our cars and he is outbreaking most cars out there.
Is the Blue as aggressive as the new Hawk stuff or the Carbotech XP12? Not quite, but it's close, it is a much less expensive pad, and is easy on the rotors (so are Carbotechs). And do you really need it to be more aggressive once you can get into your ABS at will and still manage temps? For a track day pad, I don't think there is a better deal out there. If I didn't have 4 sets front/rear already in the garage, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more this year.
*Disclaimer: I was one of their "test pilots" for optimizing the Blue compound last year and receive free pads from them (they use my car's picture at VIR in most of the Mustang magazines in their ads), and my brother is sponsored by them now (his silver GTO is in the Grassroots Motorsports ads and is also on the EBC website).
