Default Second Thoughts on Lowering....

So I went for the first nice long ride in the GT this weekend. Holy crap, are the roads chewed up from the lousy winter we just had. Tons of patches on patches and bumpy expansion joints. Since I'm on the Island, I have to drive through NYC to get to the bridges to head upstate. As careful as I try to be, I hit a well-sunken manhole cover -BAM!-... then on the way home a chuck-hole...luckily driving slow away from a stop light. (and I'm still on the stock 18" 50-series tires)

I have a set of Steeda Sport springs and some Koni SRT's sitting in my garage...but now I'm having second thoughts on the springs. I really don't know if the handling improvement will be worth losing suspension travel...maybe the Koni's on the stock springs will be enough.

I'm sure if you live in FL or SoCal with good roads, there isn't much ride penalty with a 1" lowering. Any other northern folks who ride on crappy roads with the Steeda Sports?

I just installed Koni's and Steeda Sports although I haven't been able to drive the car yet. Will do it later this week and I'll do a report. From what I hear though the ride quality is similar to or better than stock due to the Koni's being much better than stock dampers.

bad roads here too. Have second thoughts on going with 20's.

I recently installed Koni STR's and Steeda Sports on my 08 Bullitt. Ride and handling is a million times better than stock. Do the install, you will love it.

As far as ride quality, it will improve over stock. As far as ground clearance...well, that just comes with the territory. You quickly learn to be careful pulling into parking lots and going over larger speed bumps.

Thanks for the feedback. It pisses me off that we pay some of the highest taxes in the country around here and alot of our roads are going to hell. Riding the bikes, I guess I don't notice it so much as you got alot more road to chart a smooth course around the bumps. Damn, maybe more snow this week again.
