Summit Point 24 September
BLUF: Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit with the Friday at the Track program. Was supposed to rain all weekend. Never did. Temps awesome. New rotors, and my braking was WAY better (probably just psychological lol). Clicked off a record best lap in the last session of the day at 1:51.xx, beating my previous best of 1:53xx. Pretty awesome.
Discussion: None lol. My last write-up was hella long, so I figured I'd spare everyone the eye strain.
I just put up almost the entire last session on youtube, so if you have the attention span, enjoy

He sought me out in the grid before that run...like 10 minutes before staging (we were able to stage early)...just shooting the stuff, and he was telling me that he was looking forward to running with me because he wanted some friendly competition. When you start paying too much attention to other drivers/cars, bad things can happen.
Believe it or not, The Carousel (the section you're talking about) has a ridiculous amount of grip. I have vids of two sessions on this track in a downpour (Argonaut remembers, he was there) and was able to hold some good speed through the entire turn. The rest of the track...not so much.
The guy in that particular vette was paying too much attention to me.

I'm surprised because at Mosport the last place you want to be in the wet is on the concrete.
Last year I had a Viper do a 360 right in front of me for the same reason, paying too much attention to Mustang behind him. Fortunately I saw he was losing it in time and we did not collide.

That Karussell is supposedly a scaled down replica of the famous one at the Nurburgring. Its got to be around 20 degrees of banking, really turns the car on its side. Personally I don't like it, its kind of fun the first few times but then rather gimicky. It bottoms my car out pretty bad if I go to fast and hence the little ricer cars always gain on me there. Having said that - I will be at Shenandoah this weekend (Oct 1,2) with Trackdaze.com.

My Traqmate shows about 1.4G lateral in the Karussell with R888s on. Not quite sure how to interpret that since the car is in a 20 degree bank...anyone a math major? The same tires pull up to about 1.3G on a flat sweeper.
Brad, I'm trying to convince my wife to let me go out there this weekend for one last run at Shenandoah. I saw your name on the roster as well as some other buddies. Weather is supposed to be NICE, too. My only reservation is that the intermediate run group has 51 people in it lol. I was reading the registration info, and they said they are going to have 5 run groups...think they are splitting up the intermediates?...or the novices, because they are actually full. Honestly, i was looking at this "pro": intermediates don't have to request an instructor. I was looking for some solo time if this is going to be my last session out.
Sleeper, honestly I don't know about how many Gs it's pulling. I had an instructor tell me once that he knew we were pulling at LEAST a G through the bowl.
Erik, thanks dude! I've become a vid and pic junkie at these events. Memories, dude. Memories!
