Parking brake slippage
I have a 2012 V6 with manual transmission and recently my parking brake let loose and my car rolled 40 feet in to the back of an SUV. It sustained damage to the bumper and a back up sensor. Forgot to put it in gear and here's my reminder.
A couple weeks later, immediately after applying the brake, it slipped several notches right before my eyes.
Has anyone had similar issues with their brake letting loose or suddenly needed more "clicks" to hold?

Are you saying that the P-brake somehow popped off where you set it and dropped a few notches before "catching" again? I'd hate to think that the ratchet mechanism was already worn that badly in a 2012, but since we hardly ever use the P-brake in any of our cars (all 4 are manual tranny as were the 3 before those) that's all I can come up with.
One more reason to consider the P-brake as nothing more than a backup system, I guess.

My mom has a steep driveway, so whenever i go over to her house its a real good test of the parking brake.
When i first got my 2003 mustang gt, apparently i didnt put it on hard enough. I put it on and then got out of the car and went into the house without noticing it moving or anything, but when i went back out, my car was backed out into the street slightly on the neighbors lawn.
Then i got my 2011 , i put the brake on normally and sat in the car for a sec, i heard some slight noise, then noticed the car was slipping slightly and would have done the same thing my 03 did. You need to put the parking brake on very hard if the incline is steep.
