Default New BBS shoes

Recently bought some 18x10 BBS wheel from a local Ford Racing Parts dealer. It was a bit of a struggle getting them installed as nobody was really sure whether they would clear without a wheel spacer or limiting steering travel. They are also made for a 5/8" wheel stud and a 45 degree lug seat. In talking to various vendors I found that 1/2" studs would be okay but I still had to get different lug nuts. I then found that the flange on these wheel is thick enough that the stock studs are too short. So in went the lengthened ARP studs sold by Ford.

On my 2006 that originally came with 17" wheels there were no clearance problems whatsoever sitting still. They were a little close on the strut up front so I threw a 1/4" spacer in there for good measure. Looked like plenty of clearance steering-wise.

I'm really happy with the outcome and they're pretty light (20.8 pounds on my scale). Tires are 285/35-18 Hankook RS-3's and believe me I'd get taller sidewalls if I could.

They're a really nice bright silver finish but as you can see the Hawk HP+ brake dust changes that pretty quickly (this is one day of autocross dust). Fortunately the finish seems really nice and I was able to wipe the dust off with my finger after wetting them with soap/water.

Now if everybody would finally figure out that BBS had that style wheel long before RTR. It is just DUMB to call that an RTR style wheel.

Terrific wheel just wish they didn't cost so much.

I completely agree with all of this. Lol. My mother has BBS wheels on her Camry (bought it with them on) and we found out they cost $800 a FREAKING WHEEL?! Are you kidding me?? But they balance out to a gram and they look really nice. That's even painted finish.. not chrome or polished. Lol. To me they pretty much all look the same though, they lost their appeal.

They look good on there though OP, the sidewall looks to be perfect appearance wise to me but I could see for autocross why you would want more.

Nope, no center caps. These were designed for the Boss 302S race cars where there's no need or desire for center caps.

908 - I think we have very similar taste in mods. I've got a Tiger Racing hood waiting for paint as well.

I agree that they're pricey (these aren't quite $800) but I like the look; I think the "original" has something that the newer similar designs don't. Plus, seeing them underneath World Challenge cars is always cool.

I want more sidewall because the car is lowered on Steeda sport springs and still has huge fender gap. But you gotta love that you can stuff 18x10s into a stock car with room to spare!

Yeah I do like the BBS more than the RTR style, the BBS seem to have a deep lip I guess you can say. I didn't realize it at first but it makes for quite a better appearance over the copycats IMO.

You could always through on lower springs. The gap is why I didn't go for the Sports and went with Eibach Pro's instead. Of course I don't autox so IDK how they compare performance wise over the Sports.
