Default Power steering fluid

Just wanted to see what you track guys use for your power steering fluid. After my last track day in 90+ degree heat the power steering fluid started boiling (steering got heavy) at the end of some 20 minute sessions. I have a track day thats coming up, and its gonna be a hot one here in Houston, so I just wanted some opinions from you guys. I saw a guy racing a show room stock series v6 mustang last time I was at MSR (which I had no idea existed) and he suggested Redline fluid. Agree? Disagree? Thanks!

I use Amsoil. Redline is always mentioned as "the" PS fluid to use. I keep the fluid level at the lowest possible amount. I also frequently change out the fluid...suck it out with a turkey baster and replace with new every few events.

Why do you keep it low? And is sucking it out with a turkey baster good enough when changing to the same fluid? I'm assuming when switching from ATF to whatever I'm going to use its probably best to flush it.

Would Valvoline max-life ATF be an adequate replacement fluid for my 06GT? I'm thinking about flushing the P/S and coolant next oil change.

The lower it is the more room for expansion the less likely hood of boil over. Don't go to low, just to the lowest recommended level. You could pull the hoses and do a whole flush of the system but I don't bother. Since I suck out the old and put in new so frequently I don't think there is any need.

I know guys who rubber band a rag around the top of the PS reservoir to soak up any boil over. Me...I never have an issue. I can only assume its because of the steps described - fresh fluid and low level.

Ah ok thanks for the info that makes sense. I think this time ill be doing a flush and then after that ill do what you suggested and change the fluid after every hpde or 2
