I think I am going to pass on getting the Caliper Guide Pins. The new Calipers (should) have pins already in them from their previous installation and since they are new take-offs they don't have many miles on them.

With that being said I've researched the forums and online, and the manual. The manual states that anytime you remove the caliper you need to replace the guide pins. This includes replacing the caliper, rotor, and even pads... I can't imagine anyone paying $40 extra just for these bolts every time they replace their pads; but I could be wrong.

My CD-ROM version of the 2008 manual mentions replacing the bolts but not the pins (if a pin is found to be worn/tapered/rusted/otherwise damaged you should at least do the two on that caliper, probably better still to do all four pins on that axle).

I suspect most times the bolts get re-used at least once.

Thanks Norm, considering these are New Take-Off calipers I'm getting, the bolts shouldn't be worn and I should be able to reuse them.

Update: Washer Pursuit.

So I contacted my local Ford Dealer, and their price for the copper washers was $1.40 a washer. Insane, not only that but they wouldn't order them over the phone. I had to physically go there, order and pay for them, and then I'll have to go back another time (tomorrow) to pick them up.

Alternatively, which doesn't make any sense and seems to be an extreme disconnect between Ford and their Dealers... is you can go on fordparts.com and Order/Pay for the part and have it deliver to your dealer for free. Not only that but the part prices are cheaper. (1.03 a washer compared to 1.40 a washer) While this isn't a big deal on such a small purchase might be something to consider if you're looking to buy something from your local Ford Parts Dept.

He did discount the washers to $1.06, plus tax and I still have to go back tomorrow to pick them up; so again with this small purchase it wasn't a big deal but for something more I would look into this.

Copper washer part # EOAZ-2149-B ; Some reason Ford only sells them 7 to a pack. You need 8 to do all four corners. Though my dealer only had 6 on hand so they just ordered 8.

Alright, the rotors and front caliper are here. I didn't order the rear caliper with it because I was going to reuse mine, but then I decided it's only $65... so why not. So that'll come a later date.

Here are some pictures, of course each will vary but gotta commend Roush on their superb packing. Considering the weight, and price they sell these for... at free shipping at that; I really couldn't turn this deal down! Reminder. $230 for new take-off front and rear calipers and rotors.

Alright, enjoy the pics!

PS, an update... I'm going to reuse the New Takeoff Guide pins. Despite Ford saying to discard and use new, I can't see why. I did however purchase new Anchor bolts. The bolts that attach the caliper bracket to the spindle/rear plate. They were $2 a piece, according to my Ford invoice the part numbers are as followed.

Front Anchor Bolt # W705821-S439
Rear Anchor Bolt # W710233-S439

I'm still waiting on the rear caliper, brake lines, anchor bolts from Ford, and now the Steeda Tierod ends because mine are so beat up I might as well do that while I have the brakes off. More pictures to follow.

++ Update ++

The bolts probably could have been reused, but I went ahead and got new ones just for reassurance. They didn't require any thread locker as they come with thread locker already preapplied.

I guess you can only upload a max of 4 attachments per thread or something, so here are the calipers. The rear came today, packaging wasn't quite up to par with the previous shipment. It was lightly bubble wrapped with some of those sealed air bags tossed in.

Rear Calipers. I will have to get the tool because the piston is not fully depressed. The pads also came in today and to confirm this I popped in the pads and tried to fit the rotor in and it wouldn't go. Also to note that the anchor bolt threads on this caliper bracket were yellow. Didn't know they made a yellow threadlocker.

Front calipers. A little build up on all the calipers but that was expected and overall 100% satisfied.

why did you get new rear calipers and rotors? i believe they are identical to the stock ones on all the s197s. i thought the front brakes were the only ones that were different. also, what bolts are the anchor bolts? the 4 bolts on the back of the caliper?

I purchased all four rotors and calipers because mine surely need some work and for the price you pay from Roush's Overstock it's a no brainer. The rear caliper and rotors are the same, yes... but if I need rear rotors anyway why wouldn't I pay $40 instead of $200 ? The rear calipers weren't needed but I got them because it saves cleaning time, and it comes with brand new everything; so again was a why not purchase.

The anchor bolts are what holds the caliper bracket to the spindle/rear plate. (2 per wheel, front and back bolts are different) Ford tells you to discard/replace pretty much any bolt that is in a critical position on the car but that's not really why I did it. Anyway, $17 for the 8 bolts wasn't that bad and again with near 50k miles on the car I thought it was a safe investment.
