Default Strut Brace Tower

I have a 2010 GT. The front of the car floats, or will dart slightly while driving, especially going over bumps on the interstate. (Roads are horrible where I live)

I have read multiple posts on the strut towers. Seems to be different thoughts. I'd like to hear if you think a tower will help tighten up the car's front end.

What other suspension upgrades can reduce the float of the front end?

Get the strut brace. You will not regret it.

Strut tower brace will not hurt, is easy to install, and is relatively cheap. But I don't think that will solve your problem. What are the size and condition of your tires? Better struts will help with floating.

Floating is mostly shocks/struts.

Darting could be tires or alignment (particularly if the toe is "out").

In normal street driving, a strut tower brace doesn't do much more than reduce NVH. But at least installing one shouldn't hurt anything except access to the top of the engine.

Strut tower brace is primarily a dress up item. It will not address your problem at all. "Float" I would say shocks with more rebound damping is what you're looking for.

+1 with norm and 908ssp

It won't do anything for street driving. If anything it will slightly decrease performance due to the added weight.

Agreed that floatiness is mostly springs, struts and shocks, but, after hearing for years that it would not make any difference, the addition of an STB @ 75k miles (just for the hell of it because it was 1/2 price) has made a marked difference in the tightness/solidness in the front end of this daily driver.

Pony is getting a Boss Strut Tower brace for Christmas (black friday $90 deal). Don't think it will do much but it didn't break the bank. I already have Struts/Shocks/HD Mounts/Bumpsteer. Getting some squeak so I might need to shoot some lube around the bushings and such as well. Car has been aligned once after adding struts/mounts/tires... and again when I did the bumpsteer years later. Get some steering wheel shake, thinking because of the 255s? Nitto 555s with only like 8-10k miles.

That's what to expect when a brace quiets down a few structural vibrations (the "V" in NVH). The car just "feels better/more solid".

It's exactly why some Buick sedans of a few years ago came with STBs as standard factory equipment, and a good enough reason on its own merit for adding one even when the actual performance benefit is little to none.

strut tower braces help with chassis flex too, which is good but it wont do as much as subframe connectors
