Default Tire selection..track days

Would like some help for track specific tires. I have used the search button on a few of the mustang sites and am not sure what to do.
I will be running at Lime Rock and the new Thompson Ct track.
My 2014 GT track pack car has Steeda Boss Springs, Koni Yellow, Steeda HD mounts, Fays2 and JLT brake cooling kit. (will change brake pads as well)
With my 3.73 gears I am concerned about having a tire with a significantly smaller diameter than the stock 27.2 diameter.
Was thinking of RS3's but I don't see a size that would work well?
I will drive the car to the track with tires mounted on 2007-9 GT500 18x9.5 wheels. I believe these wheels are a 45 offset?
The only tires I have found that are close are Proxes R888 in 275/40/18

The R888s are good tires. I believe the spec tire in the Continental series is a 275/35-18 and you'll see those pop up pretty cheap here and there. I wouldn't worry too much about gearing for HPDEs. You may need fifth gear depending on the track, but that isn't the end of the world.

thanks
R888's are available in 275/40/18 so just slightly less tall than stock. May be the way to go.
NT01's are available in this size as well.

I'd track down a set of NT-01's in 275/40x18. The R888's will heat cycle out before they wear out. The NT-01's don't seem to have that problem - you can run the NT-01's until they cord without any significant loss of performance.

NT01's are available in 275/40/18. Sounds like I should pick up a set before the season arrives.

Thanks

With that MT-82, 5th gear isn't the same huge jump for you as it is for those of us with the 5-speed TR3650, so it's not nearly as critical for you to avoid using it.

With an MT-82 and 3.73's I think you'll be using 5th on most tracks anyway. 4th gear @ 6750 is only about 105 mph w/275/40-18's or 106 with (stockish height) 255/45-18's. About 100 with 275/35-18's at the "short" end of the list of tire choices so far.

You could run 275/35-18's and still be able to see 132-ish by 6750 rpm in 5th. 275/40-18's would only get you to 138-ish, or only about 6 more mph . . .

Norm,
Thanks. I did not realize the speed difference would be so small.
What do you think the ideal tire size is for track? With my GT500 18x9.5 rims.
