Default Front Control Arm Question

So I am currently saving to upgrade the suspension on my car in stages. My plan was to first purchase the Eibach Pro-system Plus as well as new camber plates. However, I just found out my front control arms are bad and will not pass inspection. These were another upgrade I wanted to do, however, I do not have the funds to purchase the lowering kit/shocks/strut/camber plates as well as front control arms. My question is this, is it feasible to install new control arms and then later lower my Mustang? Along with that, how important/necessary is it to purchase front control arms with an extended ball joint for a lowered vehicle? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The stock front control arms will work fine with a lowered car. Mine is lowered 1.5 inches up front and I don’t plan on replacing it. The rubber bushings are less than to be desired for road racing, but for daily driving and the occasional race they will work just fine with a lowered mustang. There is no need to buy some “fancy” setup. I would just buy a replacement OEM part. Hope that helps.

Why do you say your front arms would not pass inspection?

Dealership told me the ball joints were bad. Recommended replacing the entire control arm instead of just the ball joints. The main reason I am asking is because some aftermarket control arms say they are specifically designed for lowered vehicles. Just didn't know how important this was to the overall suspension/feel of the car.

Mine crapped out on me too. Just get the GT500 ones. They have a better bushing in there. No noise anymore on my car. Got rid of all the front end clunking I had. Dropping the car has zero effect on the LCA as well. My car is dropped with P springs.

Yup.

Late Model Resto has the pair on their site for $350. You should also get some GT500 Strut mounts if you're already lowering and replacing the struts and shocks anyway.

Another place to check for a great price would be the parts website for Tousley Ford. They are the only place I go to for OEM parts anymore. If you don't race the car (autocross or road racing), just go with the OEM base arms, not the GT500.
