As soon as he came over the top of that hill, I knew there was going to be trouble with all that sand on the road.

that is a considerable amount of damage... he turned way too late on that turn. i imagine he might of even had some wheel hop when coming to the top of the slight incline.

it seems like the s197 mustang roof does not hold up too well in the event of a roll over. i have seem many pictures of stangs with collapsed roofs... i think if i ever take the car to a track, i might want to consider a cage. [X(]

I saw the original post from the driver on another forum. I have taken these pieces from the thread if anyone is interested in reading. Minus the vid which is already posted.

"Hey All,

I really had fun at my HPDE on 10/13-14 at Thunderhill. Unfortunately I had a mishap during my second session on Sunday.

So, I broke out different parts of the video.

Here is the first part at full speed. Two mistakes here:
First, I missed the checkered flag, so I was driving harder that I may have if I had seen it.
Second, I didn't brake on the uphill to the turn, so I carried too much speed into the next braking point and didn't scrub-off enough. I had been braking on the uphill, but didn't this time - Brain Fart, I guess. A very expensive brain fart.

I walked away with a strained neck and a sore lower back. The Shelby...not so good. I had a CG-Lock on my belt, so my butt stayed planted in the seat. I feel that is the main reason I didn't bash my head against the roof. Both doors still open and close, and the engine is running when I stopped rolling. I think these cars a fairly well built. I don't mind the pork-factor so much now.

I feel badly about the whole thing. There is no disposition on the car, yet. I'm waiting to hear from the ins. co. and the body shop. I may buy it back if totaled and put the drivetrain in my '65 GT coupe."

What a nasty track! Uphill straightawayending witha tight blind curve and sand. Why don't they just put in a big pothole there to further liven things up. You won't see my car on that ....hole course.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the same guywho had that obnoxious passenger(who wouldn't shut up)? That little hand wave as he passed slower cars reminds me of them.
Seems the driver wasn't very familiar with the track, he came in too hot for that short, tight right hander on a decline, what a shame..........................

I hope he takes the 500 off the door, and the mud out the front bumper, and the tape off the lense before the adjuster comes out.

What do you say in that situation? Any one wreck and the track then report it? What do you say.[8D]
