gt500 oil change
Im wanting to change my oil this weekend and was wondering what oil you gt500 owners run...Should I stick with motorcraft or does anyone like the castrol syntec? The castrol is both easier to find and cheaper what is ur opinions out there?

RE: gt500 oil change
This is something I have debated over.Castrol supposedly makes the Motorcraft oil.The "a" oil in the bottles with black caps carries the same cert as the Syntec. The "b" oil is so far the only oil on the market to carry all of the right certs for the GT500.The Motorcraft brand with the "b" cert comes with gold caps on the bottles and reads to be used in the Ford GT and the GT500.The "a" cert Motorcraft comes with black caps and covers only the GT,Which has basically the same engine except for aluminum block and dry sump oiling. The Castrol Syntec only covers the Ford GT"a" cert.I really was going to put the Syntec in as I am quite sure it would be just fine but Ford can be really picky on oil and filter warranty concerns.GT500 motor is about $15,000 if you have to eat one.I'd spend the extra few bucks a quart as I did and get the Motorcraft just in case you need the warranty work.Hopefully someone will ante up and get the "b" cert soon so we can get oil for $5-6 a quart at a local store instead of $7-9 for the Motorcraft which is for now only available at the dealer.
