Default Boost gauge/supercharger

I just bought a 08 GT 500 and have a question about the boost gauge. I’m not use to having a boost gauge/supercharger and was wondering when does the needle become active and move. I haven’t seen it move at all and was wondering if it is really working. What does it take to get it to move so I can see if the needle/gauge is working?

Thanks,
Yugi

You won't see a boost guage till the computer activates the super charger, some have waited till 500 miles and some come on right away, you won;t see it move till about 3500-4000 rpm or so anyway.

hope this helps!

This morning on my way to work I got into it a little and the PSI gauge does move at higher RPMs like around 4000 - 4500. So it’s working, but only got it to about 5 psi before I had to slow down! Does this sound normal that it stays dormant until you REALLY step into it?

Thanks,

yugi

this is not a centri Sc that builds boost...it is a roots based. it has boost when you step on it...if you are keeping it at low rpms and not pushing on the accel (following the shift arrows etc) then you will barely see it move...believe me if you thump it hard..it will boost....the car does come with a alternate calibration for the first few miles or so....mine went active afte 15 miles...some have had to wait longer...but it sounds like you are getting boost....the amount of boost depends on how you accelerate.

it's not rpm dependent, it's throttle dependent. so the more yout push the gas pedal down the more boost you have. if you want to see themost boost you got, then put it in 4th and floor it, you'll get instant boost, but the max boost will come higher up in the rpms.
how much boost is in a gt 500 stock?

Peak boost on a stock Shelby is 8.5psi if I'm not mistaken. I've been seeing 10psi on the gauge since I got my CAI and tune. I don't know the reason for this, but I'm not complaining.
