Default ok, someone talk 2010 suspension...

we were planning on ordering our shelby convertible , but had a friend of ours say he read somewhere that the suspension was only modified on the coupe and not on the vert. Supposedly the same hoping nasty handling characteristics remain...................Is there any more up to date info on this.

Our previous experience was with a 67 coupe, and an 09 convert. GT. Those cars had great manners....

thnx

Thats what I read to, my 08 gt500takes off just fine, but I don 't drag race the car. I tryed to buy an 2010 but the dealer wanted to steal my 08 vert, and want a premium for the 10, my car has 1300 mile on it.So I'am going to wait for a while. They sure look good I wanted a grabber blue one to match my Boss!!

Johnny ,
Thank you for the reply, got to see a new 2010 GT yesterday. Nice looks. The wife loved it and wants a black shelby, but once she read the write up on the nasty handling suspension not being changed she is getting cold feet. This will be our ice cream getter, no plans to drag race. I am a retired(maybe) road racer of 20 years, and might want to carve out some mountain roads......that is it.

Hopefully someone can shed a little light on this..............as far as prices this dealer seems at MSRP for the shelby.

Default 2010 Suspension

The Vert and the Coupe are made on the same assembly line and according to a Ford rep at the Flat Rock plant the drivetrain and suspension are the same. The only change is the Vert. gets smaller wheels (18's). The coupe gets 19's this year.

Hello Hitman,
Well that was my assumption until I read a discussion on another forum and read a test and review on Jalopnik.com.................it may not be accurate........Hopefully the proper info is coming from the rep.
The smaller wheels on the vert are due to 15% reduction in spring rate from the coupe to obtain a better ride apparently, and less flex. But again all I know is from what i read.

They say the 2010 is better I"am 55the 08 vert is a lot better than the 05 gt vert, it really drives nice, After she feel that power and the wind she will love it, my g/f does and if my daughter could drive a stick the car would never be here!!!

If the only difference is a reduction in spring rate I would thing the basic components would be same but I guess you will have to test drive one to be sure.
