Need help (info) on 08 shelby mustang gt exhaust
I have been looking and reading and I watched all the videos in the exhaust section, but I'm still confused. Basically, What is a good and LOUD muffler that is actually louder than the shelby mufflers it comes with? I've been looking at flowmaster 40 series but I don't know if they would even be louder.
Also, I think I want a H Pipe, but it looks like the factory exhaust already has a sort of x-pipe design, towards the front of the car, the pipes bend toward each other and are welded together, but I can't tell if they actually are cut to flow into each other, or, just welded together seperately. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I've uploaded a few pics of my car in my profile if anyone's interested. It won't let me use an attachment for the picture thread yet because I'm a newbie!

I installed the KR mufflers (Ford Racing M-5230-S) on my 07 GT500 and love em!
Simple to install too.

They are way better than stock, but not objectionably loud. They let out a mean growl at start-up and during spirited acceleration, but otherwise during cruise, they are fairly quiet. IMO the brushed stainless steel exhaust tips look pretty good.
I think spowers1 has a Shelby GT and not a Shelby GT500. I believe the stock Mustang GT came with a H pipe. I don't know if that was changed to a X pipe when Shelby built the Shelby GT or not. I know the KR mufflers sound great on the GT500 because I have them on my car. I don't know how they would sound on the Shelby GT since it is a 4.6 vs a 5.4 engine.
spowers,
I felt the same way as you with the stock GTA's on the Shelby GT. I ended up with a pair of Ford Racing 5320's. To me they are perfect. I think they are considerably louder than the stockers. They sound great on startup and really rip when wide open. They do drone a little if you lug it in a higher gear, but a simple downshift and some extra rpm's will fix that. They will bolt right up to the stock pipes, and the hangers will line right up. As far as the X-pipe, your car should have been shipped from Shelby with it. I believe it is only clamped in place, not welded.

The 5320's are more expensive, but I would feel better that it would be closer to original, a clean and easy install, but I'm not sure they would be loud enough. It's very hard to tell from a video through computer speakers! I wonder if my local dealership has a KR on hand lol! Thanks bro! By the way you're right, it did come with the X pipe from Shelby already. I should have known that...
