Any name brand oil of the proper weight is fine. Just be sure you change it at a frequency that is appropriate for your driving style.

Castrol Syntec 5W50 is fine for the GT500; it meets/exceeds the Ford WSS-M2C931-B spec recommended for it. I have been using the Motorcraft 5W50.

I have been using the Castrol 5w-50 in mine without any problems. Its about $7 a quart where as the Ford dealerships in my area wanted a little over $10 a quart for the Motorcraft 5w-50. And as far as using the Mobil 5w-50 i believe you may have to special order it.

I use the Motorcraft 5w-50 motor oil. I pay $7.19 a quart for it. I order it online from: http://k-mansparts.com/items/mustang...qgt-detail.htm

I recommend that you use nothing but the MotorCraft 5w-50 for now. I think the only other oil that met the correct Ford spec. was sold by Roush, but it's no cheaper. Plenty of folks use the Castrol, and some the Mobil 1 5w-50 (European, I think), but I believe those don't meet the Ford specification for the GT-500. They probably work just as well (or better), but may shorten the exhaust catalyst's life. However, if warranty is any concern, stick with the MotorCraft. If any engine oil related issues come up, you can be certain Ford will have your oil lab tested.
