It has begun,
Well, yesterday I shipped the car down from Toronto Canada down to Miramar FL to TORQ Performance to start my build...
Started out as a small itch for more power from my Shelby, and is ending up in a bank account draining, and very exciting build process that will begin once the car hits ground next week.
My buddy, owner of TORQ Performance (former tuner for Steeda Canada, Paul Meister) and I have been working hard on putting together an knock-out kit that not only will be reliable to drive, but also have *** loads of power that I will probably never use...and this is what we ended up with...
Whipple 2.9 Kit (72# injectors, blower, tensioner, etc, etc)
Innovators 10% pulley
3.0 pulley (should run about 17 psi of boost, maybe 18)
Dual Blade 72mm Throttle Body
Carbon Fibre Intake
Custom Grind Cams w/ Springs
Fore Precision Fuel Rail
Kooks longtubes (already have Corsa Mufflers)
Afco Dual Pass Heat Exchanger w/ expansion tanks
With this performance package were hoping to be sitting about 725 rwhp on his mustang dyno.
I am also doing a bunch of carbon body panels, underhood carbon and not to mention teh gauges. Aeroforce Dual Gauge, with speed of sound pod.
The build is most likely going to take about 2 weeks, so as it goes along, I will keep you guys updated...
Let me know what you think!
Eric

to the OP, congrats, sounds like an awesome plan and I can't wait to see/hear the outcome when it's finished

Well, its back!!
I drove the car back from Miami to Toronto, only 3 days after the build was complete.
That alone says alot about the tuner
The boys at Torq did an AMAZING job on the build and tune, no complaints whatsoever from me.
The final numbers were a VERY impressive 760RWHP (dynojet)...whicha ended up higher than we even thought.
Just so your all aware, this set-up made more power than a 3.4 Whipple, granted, its because of the cams, but it saved me from having to lower the motor, or change the hood. There were lots of critics of why I would spend all the money and stick with the 2.9 as opposed to going with the 3.4. Well, as you can see (waiting to post dyno graphs) from the numbers it pulled, it is a very impressive set-up and pulls huge horsepower and torque numbers. The torque was upwards of 675 (dont remember the exact number) at the wheels.
It runs at 18.5 max psi with 19* of timing. It was a fairly conservative tune, there is definitely more power in there, but really, at 760, its more than enough.
This thing is a complete demon - like nothing i've ever driven, or been in before.
Surprisingly, it actually drives VERY well! It handles and drives exactly like factory, until you get into the boost of course, then all hell breaks loose...definitely going to get pulled over for the noise - cause this thing is looouuud!!
Just thought i'd give you an update as to how the build went and what the numbers were...i'll post more build pictures once its all done...but for now, here is the final product.
