Default Moroso Oil Pan on Shelby GT500

I need to change the oil pan on my 2008 Shelby GT500. Rather than another stock pan I was thinking of installing a Moroso model# 20548. Can someone comment on whether it fits 100% without any modifications, cutting or hastle. I can not get a clear answer from any suppliers. If someone knows of a different pan that they have had success with please let me know also.

Thanks for the posting. I have a 2010 GT500 and I want to change the oil pan. So far Canton indicates that they don't have a pan that will fit with the GT500 pickup as their pan 15-784 is 1/4 inch too shallow. The Moroso 20548 is listed as the same depth as the Canton 15-784 at 6 1/4 inch. Do you know how much clearance there was between the pickup and the bottom of the pan when it was installed?

hen I was checking the forums this morning to see if anyone had a question or concern about a Moroso or Competition Engineering products I discovered this thread.
My role is not to sell you anything, I am just here to help to you with your questions.

Our part # 20548 oil pan can be used on 05-11 GT 500. Due to the adjustment available in the pickup mounting, I've personally mocked up the the later pickups in the earlier and aftermarket pans, and achieved proper clearance which is 3/8" to 1/2" from the bottom of the pick up to the bottom of the oil pan.

In regards to running 10 quarts in the oil pan; it is possible that he needed 10 to reach that mark. Ford is known to run their oil level high on the modular engines, assuming that a couple quarts get tied up in the upper end of the engine. If the customer retained the OEM tray, the high oil level won't harm anything, though it isn't needed.

Personally I would run 8 to 8.5 quarts in the oil pan and rescribe my factory dipstick to reflect that.

Sincerely,

Question Thor - I have have a 09 Gt500 with 5.4L engine. Do I have to raise the engine to upgrade the pan?

Sorry for the delay in responding back. The following is a quick overview of how our company recommends changing an oil on one of these cars. What we recommend is that an engine support bar be used to hold the top of the engine in place. After the top of the engine is secure, then support the front subframe/k-member and loose its mounting bolts and slowly lower the front subframe/k-member until there is enough clearance to take off the oil pan through the front or back of the car.

Sincerely,

Thor S.
