If this is true, then a GT500 is definitely for you.

(1.) Not to necessarily disagree, but I know the owner of a Roush shop & they have seen no problems with 5.0L with Roush superchargers. I think the comparison had to be between a standard 5.0L GT & a GT 500 (not a more expensive Boss Model) The difference will be about $12,000 plus tax! The GT 500 gives you 10 more HP!
I'm driving a 4.6L with a Roush Supercharger & I've had no problems at all! Yes, I realize it's not running 9 PSI on the 460 HP version & that does make a difference! I'm not sure I'd want to run int at 9 PSI although many are doing it!
(2.) I'm making the same decision... 5.4L versus 5.0L...so give what you think are the advantages of the GT 500 engine, clutch & trans over a standard 5.0L, 6 sp. GT Mustang. I'm willing the spend the extra money if I can see the benefit! I don't care much about Carroll Shelby's signature... I just love the cars!
P.S. for those with limited budgets... think of finding a low mileage, super clean '05 to '08 & put a Roush supercharger on it! With luck it could be done for $22 to $25K for 460 HP! Remember, there's always a faster car, so don't get in that race!

I didn't understand the comparison you made in the last line...?
My point is not putting down Shelbys in anyway, but I think the cost of a 2012 5.0L GT with big Brembo brakes plus another $9K for a Roush Supercharger (installed) will be quite a bit less than a 2012 Shelby GT 500. I'm not saying it will be better than a Shelby... Heavens! Slap my mouth! I'm just saying it's just a "different choice" for someone who either can't afford a Shelby... or whatever! Around here dealers will deal on a GT 5.0L, but they won't on Shelbys, plus the Shelby's are loaded to the hilt with options some may not want to pay for just to increase the overall markup for the dealer! The dealers around me act like they are doing you a giant favor to even condsider selling you a Shelby! "Don't you know it's a Shelby! If you want a discount on our Shelby... you obviously aren't good enough to own it... you peasant! It's a rare Shelby... you fool & you want a discount!"
Of course it won't be a Shelby, but a 5.0L 6 speed GT with Brembo brakes & a Roush Supercharger is alot of bang for the buck! I'm sure you won't deny that if you are open minded!
A second point is, that a guy with little money that bought a clean, low mileage '05 to '08 & put a Rousch supercharger on it can have a nice SC car for a budget price! Everyone isn't one of the 1% .... or wants to be in debt for $60K in this economy!
I've got $32K (including the new car purchase in '08) invested the car pictured here! It beats putting the same money into a Honda! Right?
