Default dyno tune required?

If i upgrade my pulley is a dyno tune required or is the canned tune sufficient to keep it safe? also how hard is a pulley swap? can I do that myself or should I get a shop to do it?

any place you recommend to order my intake/pulley/ tuner combo?

If not not mistaken some pulley swaps must be done by a shop, and I would get a tune with it

I ordered my pulley upgrade package from Brenspeed...it certainly woke my GT500 up!..give them a call and get all the info

Yes- you will need a new tune if you change the pulley.

VMP Tuning are the experts for tuning GT500's. They have a specially made pulley puller kit as well that you will need to remove the pulley. Contact BJ or Justin Starkey. WWW.vmptuning.com.

The other Top tuner is Jon Lund. Contact Van at www.revanracing.com.

Go to Team Shelby, SVT Performance and Ford GT500 forum and you will see who they recommend.

I would bet that VMP or Lund has tuned 25 GT500's for every 1 that Brenspeed has tuned. That is not a knock against Brenspeed as they have a good reputation but the huge majority of GT500 owners are using one of the two tuners listed above.

Recommend adding JLT 127mm CAI as well.

Also if you are going to swap the pulley you seriously need to consider a heat exchanger from Van at revan racing. VMP also carriers a similar unit in AFCO. When you are spinning the SC with a smaller pulley you will generate more heat and your call will pull timing as it gets heat soaked which can happen quite easily especially in temps north of 80 degrees.

All in (pulley, idler, plugs, sct tuner, pulley tool, custom tunes, Heat exchanger and JLT CAI you would be looking at approx 2K + labor)

Thanks for the input IA!

let me clarify my question more though. I was wondering more on the reliability of a tune sent to you as opposed to a dyno tune. I mean I would rather get a dyno tune but the closest one is like 4 hours away. I just want to be sure that a tune sent to me from VMP would be safe, engine wise.

JMO...canned tuned are good, but conservative and not specific to your car....whereas dyno tunes are.

edit:
I've heard nothing but good things about VMP.....tune will be safe.
