Default Fail Safe Mode

Just curious. Was driving today and decided to have some fun. I noticed that when I mashed the throttle all the way down really quick, even in 6th that the rpms would almost redline and then it said fail safe mode. Was it just a result of pushing the throttle down too quickly? Was kinda the top half of the pedal that I pushed. Still have stock airbox and throttle body on it for now. Looking t do a tune and jlt intake soon though. Searched and found where people were throwing codes, but that was with aftermarket pieces. Do I need to disconnect battery for a bit as well? Any input appreciated.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping, when I floor it in 6th gear the revs barely move. I would recommend fixing anything and everything before modding the car, that makes sure that the mods don't break anything and cars are easier to diagnose without mods.
Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then hitting the brake pedals will make sure the system is discharged, that will reset the volatile memory of the PCM and it will have to relearn all of it's learnable parameters. You might, but aren't likely to, notice a performance difference until the computer has relearned everything.

Have you checked it for codes?

No codes, but took to dealership. Was indeed the clutch. They hooked me up too. $100 deductible for the certified pre owned warranty is all I had to pay, even though the clutch was a normal wear item. 3 days in a free rental as well.

I had the same problem with my 05 GT. It got to where it happened every day. I forget what code it was throwing. Long story short, it was the alternator causing that to happen. Changed out the alternator and no problems for the last 4 months :-)

Actually, it was the throttle body--Once that was changed, no more fail safe mode. (I got 2 incidents mixed up. Sorry!)
