Default Contemplating A 2026 Mustang GT Coupe

Hello, everybody!

I live in Virginia and had four different Mustang GT coupes several years ago. I had a 1988, a 1993, a 1995 and - several years later - a 2008. Each of them had a five-speed manual. My wife and I are considering a new 2026 GT (not the Premium) since we prefer cloth seats over leather and don't want to blow the budget. We have owned Corvettes before - both from the 7th generation, a 2017 and 2019. We enjoy rowing our own gears and we are not huge fans of the current 8th generation Corvette - especially since it only comes with an automatic.

Corvettes are amazing cars for sure, but now that we're senior citizens, getting in and out of one is an act of contortion that is not anything close to being graceful. Admittedly, the exhaust note on the Mustang sounds better. I am waiting to hear back from a dealer about their honest "out the door" price before we consider our next step. If we get one, it'll be a garage queen or weekend toy. We have a Mazda CX-30 and a Toyota Camry that serve as our daily driver vehicles. We also own an old 2004 F-150 that serves as our backup and is great tor trips to Lowe's, etc.

My four preferred colors are orange, Adriatic Blue, Grabber Blue and white.......with a black interior and the six-speed manual transmission.

Any words of wisdom for somebody who has not owned a Mustang in more than fifteen years? Thank you!!

Well, we bought it. Here she is. 2026 Mustang GT in Adriatic Blue. Six-speed manual and rear spoiler delete. We bought it on Thursday and I drove it home about 80 miles. Could not have been happier!

I drove it another 40 miles on Friday, washed it up nice & clean (got some road dirt from the pre-treated pavement ahead of the storm). I put it in the garage last night with 125 miles on it. Our ;Stang is not coming out to play until after the snow, ice and salt are gone. We're supposed to get 8 to 10 inches of snow and then a nice coating of ice & freezing rain on top of it. Yuck! Good thing that our Mustang is not a daily driver.
