Saleen NEVER uses the number "06" in any year (long story). Any "Saleen" with a car # of 06 is a fake.

One guy is trying to claim his GT as a SALEEN

He has his fake plaque and all and thinks because Steven Saleen signed his car that its an OFFICIAL SALEEN and tried to get his fake plaques to show it as real. Hell, Saleen signed my dash too at his car show I won. I am trying to make a point to a few that THINK it's real based on his VIN and ID # from saleen thats a fake and I know it.....please do tell me the story!

Previous Deejay discussion I'll stand by the statement that Steve autographing someone's dash is NOT "sanctioning" the car. Steve signs almost anything people ask him to, much like Shelby does. I have diescats that are autographed - are they now "sanctioned Saleens"? Uh, no... Just like there's HUNDRED's of Shelby clones with CS's signature. That does not make them "real" Shelbys either.

The proof would be to make one simple phone call to Saleen (949-597-4900). Ask to verify a car. Give them the number 06, wait for the laughter to subside, and then they will verify that there has NEVER been a car numbered 06. I have a Letter of Authenticity from Saleen, as do MANY other Saleen owners. Ask Deejay for his... Oh yeah, look for car 06 in the official Saleen reigistry - it's not there either.

As far as the "#06 story" goes - In 1985, the order placed for car 85-006 was canceled before the car was built. Saleen Autosport continued the consecutive number sequence and didn't realize until later in the year that #06 was never built. They didn't want the production date of the #06 car to be later then higher number cars. They decided to begin a tradition that no #06 car would ever be built. Kinda fun...

I have people telling me they swear it's real when I know its a clone. The fact that he puts on this website that its SIGNED OFF by Saleen is ridiculous! Saleen signed MY CAR off lol

 

This is the best part of the website...... If you scroll down, looks like he's putting an Extreme hood on it (1 of 100 made ???).

Indeed, a non-supercharged Extreme.....that would make it 1 of 0 ever made. And we all know what happens when you try to divide by zero

 

oh he posted on 3.8mustang.com and I called him out on his Faleen and people still thought it was real. Finally some faced it wasn't real but 'good enough' to be claimed as one. Why do people think STEVE SALEEN signing your car makes it authentic? He signs anything, I won his show 3 years in a row and he signed my dash. Do I have a V6 Saleen/Cobra/LamboDoored V6? 1 of 0 made? LOL
