Default Intercooler and Air temp Q's!!

i have an 04 superchrged saleen that i just bought. the air intake temp was running basically at 220 degrees. that didn't sound right so i took it to psi motorsports and asked if that was normal for saleens. it's deff not right in general but we think the placement of the sensor, that saleen mounted might have been giving wrong readings. anyways after fooling with everything we realized the timing was 3 degrees off becuase of it. so we moved the sensor to the actual intake tube where it is reading almost normal now. the real question i had was, is anyone else having those readings for the air temp?? and also we can't tell if the intercooler water pump is stock or not, and it might not be pushing enough coolant through, plus it has a leek AND the pump might have come with smaller hoses but we don't know for sure because SALEEN IS CLUELESS!! here are some pics of the pump and hoses.

alright well i should have done this in the beginning but i went around and it looks like this is common...but did everyone know that the timing was off.----------going back to the sensor being moved, because we moved it the timing was off even more and i had detonation. this is where another question arrises...he told me he could tune it to where the sensor is now and that would solve the problem, i was planning on having it tuned anyways but would a high performance tune be the only thing that would correct it? because i did not tell him that, i just said i wanted it fixed for the time being and he gave me an estimate of around six hundred to get it tuned.

I'VE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MY 04,IT TURNED OUT THAT THE GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED.YOUR PUMP IS CORRECT AND STOCK.MINE WAS LEAKING ALSO AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.YOUR'S SHOULD STILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.SO HAVE THEM REPLACE IT.A TUNE I DON'T THINK WILL HELP YOU BRING INTERCOOLER TEMPS DOWN.BUT BEFORE I WOULD SPEND 600 ON A TUNE I WOULD HAVE THE PUMP REPLACED AND HAVE THEM CHECK THAT GAUGE.GOOD LUCK.

Just a quuick heads up, check your guage first, there is a reason why the guage is where it is , made to measure air temp after the blower (not before it) the reason the timing was down is becuase hot air makes for detonation and spark is pulled to remove it, if youhave a hot air charge and dont compensate for it as the temp sender does not see it, you have good chance of taking out pistons, just a word of warning. On hot days after the engine has heat soaked the manifold the airtemp will stay quite high until you get a chance to drive and cool it off

SAR, you must have thick skin after dealing with people like this. Saleen is clueless. I love that. Yet they made a stupid change that nearly destroyed his engine. But that would have been Saleen's fault too, I'm sure.

JSaleen, I would recommend you find a new shop ASAP; they don't seem to know what they're doing and their move nearly cost you an engine.

well actually guys we shot the sensor with the temp. gun and it read the same as the gauge. so the gauge is good but since the pump is stock, it should be moving the coolant freely, unless the intercooler is covered in oil, which would obviously defeat the purpose of the intercooler. which would cause the high temp after the blower.

This is a BLOWER which compresses air so if you are running hard on boost on a hot day the air will go over 200 deg (air heats when compressed), if the intercooler is coated in oil you have another issue, as over filled with oil, hurt piston, etc

yeah but this is not running the car, this was having it sit in the garage, idle for about thirty mins

if the coolant is being blocked from actually being able to cool, that would be the problem. but i'm having ac collins ford do a diagnosis to determine if it is under warranty so they can replace it. im hoping that it fixes the problem so i don't have to go down a whole nother path of trial and error.

if iti s sitting in your garage after the car has run that is called heat soak and perfectly normal, the manifold soaks with engine heat and the air gets hot, drive it and it will cool down
