Default Saleen SC Guys - Question

I have an early 02' S281 with the stock GT hood. Couldn't afford the supercharger then but now have just bought the Series II SC and installed. It fits fine with the hood insulation taken off. I'm thinking about cutting a "mail slot" in the insulation and reinstalling. My question is - How did Saleens with Series I and II SC's come from the factory? Did Saleen use a different insulation, leave it off, or make it fit some other way?

Thanks,
Mike

I have seen it both ways, I saw one with no insulation, and another with a different black insulation.

00-04 S281sc Saleens came standard with the upgraded carbon fiber hood with the functional dual inlets. This hood had more clearance than the standard gt hood with the NON-functional scoop(I'm getting in a jab on Ford for it right there). That is the way ALL stock sc Saleens 00-current come. My 01 S281 that I Procharged came with the hood option stock even though it was n/a. The option on the sticker was like $1800. If you bought the S281sc, Saleen says they throw in the upgraded hood for free.

Well, that's what I thought too. I bought "The Saleen Book" though, and it shows at least one 2000 SC car with the stock hood and I could swear that they had one at the dealer when I bought my 2002. Oh well, I cut a nice little slot and trimmed it out with some windlace and it looks pretty good. One day I'll get the composite hood. Thanks for the response.
