Anyway, it seems that no woman in the world likes this car:
I feel qualified to explain the mystery of the "Wife Doesn't Like Grabber Orange Syndrome™". It's not that we don't *like* GO, it's that we don't necessarily want to *drive* it. I mean, I love the PJ (very muscle-car retro!), but orange is about the most masculine color for a car there is. I have a simple solution for you -- buy a PJ for you and the red one for her. I personally want the pink one!

I appreciate that, but with four Mustangs, you're not exactly representative of the distaff sex, now are you? Anyway, I'm the car nut in the family; wife just puts up with it. She has a 2000 New Beetle in bright blue she likes and refuses to replace until it dies. At least she can knock out C++ and Java code like nobody's business.

When I took a tour of the Irvine facility in October, Saleen's Jim Cross told me that the engine and interior are completely removed for cars receiving custom paint jobs. Apparently most of the custom paints start with a silver base coat, and the actual color is mixed in with clear coat.
That's kinda right. A lot of custom jobs start with a silver or gold base coat, then a translucent color coat (ie candy apple) then a regular clear. The big problem with candy type paint jobs (and many custom colors) is repair, should it ever be needed. With a candy color, you cannot blend new color into the old, as it will cause a dark spot. The only choice is a full repaint.

Thanks for the nice photo. Did you happen to get any with the trilogy silver?

Sorry, no. In going over my collection of Saleen photos made last week and last October, the only custom paint colors I have are Speedlab Yellow, Rainbow (sent to me by another forum member), Liztick Red, and Beryllium (although the last is of poor quality). I know what the next question will be so I might as well post 'em here:
