has anyone noticed that saleen guys continue to bash roush cars on here and yet not the other way around..this guy is asking about a roush not a saleen, its actually getting alittle old..both cars are damn nice period,, go pick a fight with a corvette or a camaro, im starting to feel like the allies russia and america against germany, like the enemy of my enemy is my friend
I'm not sure if you were referring to me or not, but like I said earlier, I like both cars. Just between the two, I would prefer a Saleen because of the handling. Also, in my area, it seems that Saleen's are more exclusive and rare than Roush's. But in the end, I would not mind having either one.

Go fly a kite!

Totally not true. I think it's safe to say mostly everyone on here thinks Roush's aresolid, high-performance cars. You'll find all of us talking about the different nuances about the two because the nuances are the differentiables. It's like Jack Nicklaus talking toBobbyJones about their respectivefades and draws being better shots for golf. Both could do great things with what they had to work with and are legends at the end of the day (same goes for Saleen and Roush). [/blockquote]

I just discovered the Roush Mustangs and would like to purchase a 428R model, but I have a few questions about them since I haven't been following the Mustangs for many years.

How fast is one of these Roush Mustangs? I would expect 1/4 mile times somewhere in the high 13 second range if the car can hook up. Are the Roush Mustangs selling very well? I seem to have found quite a few at a dealership in southern Utah and many more atanother dealershipin Phoenix Arizona. The list price of about$46,000.00 doesn't seem out of line with the amount of performance add ons that these cars have, but why are the dealers so eager to drop the price by a few thousand dollars? I am planning on driving this car and not looking at it as a collector item, but having a limited production tuner car is kind of nice.
The 428R is a 'Tribute" limited production run for 2008. They will produce 200 of them. HP is rated at 435HP and with all the dyno runs I've seen that translates to the 370-390RWHP range. Roush is conservative on their HP numbers. With a set of Drag Radials that car would be in the mid/low 12's. Considering all the goodies they have added to the 428R $46,000 is a good buy and if you can get the dealer lower, all the best. The Roush's sold very well last year with the 427R being their best selling Model to date. They originally planned on 400-500 units of the 427R but ended up selling 1025 units. So the cars are very popular right now. Its all about what you like and want. the 428R would be a great ride!!!

Thanks for the information on the 428R. I just talked to a friend that has a Ford dealer car club buddy that sells him cars at almost cost. He told me that he will talk to him and see if he can get me a better deal on this car. His friend is not a Roush dealer and that might be a problem with being able to get the car from the dealer that has the one that I want. We have our heart set on a Vista Blue one with the white stripe and light gray seat inserts.

I can buy one of these cars for a little less than $43k right now and hope to do better if my friend can pull a few strings for me. With the current problems with our economy, I feel that the dealers are willing to make deals rather than have these cars sitting on their lots.

The Vista Blue is one sharp Ride for sure. We have one Vista Blue 427R here in town and I always enjoy seeing it when its out and about in town. Here's a link to 428R info

Also here's the 2007 Production numbers for the Roush cars. Vista Blue was the most popular color for the 2007 427R's.

I just purchased a 428 R, I have owned a Saleen and loved that to, the problem is a $49,000 Saleen here in Albuquerque goes for $56000.00, a $46000.00 GT500 goes for $67000.00 and even though I have a 428R, I would take the GT500 hands down over both the Roush or Saleen. But looking at the price of all three the Roush wins, one other thing if you look at theRoush web site the blower alone makes 445 hp, the off road exhaust is good for 10 hp and from an un named Roush source the 428R makes a lot more than advertised hp. There has been some rumors about Saleen packing their motors with ice and testing them at the lowest altitude possible to get max power. All 3 are nice cars and all three have their plus’s and negatives.
IMO,
LeeU

PS.. I have the Vista blue

Too high. I know they only made 100 of them, but I would think it would be around $28K.
