Default Lets talk about shifters!

Im going to buying a new shifter for my 06 281. I just cant deal with the rubbery and sloppy stocker. I want something smooth but firm with a nice medium to short throw. Anyone have any ideas. Is the Steeda triax the way to go? How about the MGW? Ive heard great things about the Steeda sport. What do you guys think? I never race my car..it is primarily a Sunday cruiser, so I dont want anything that is going to be a pain in the butt to find reverse or any issues like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Eric

I recommend a Pro 5.0as mine is very smooth.I also wanted to pass along that the current **** you have is an absolute bear to remove, according to reports here. Seems to me you will need a strong vice to get ahold of it and unscrew it.

Yeah, I had to remove it once when I first got the car. I noticed it was torn and Saleen sent me a new one. Is your pro 5.0 in a 05 or newer car?

I have a Pro 5.0 and love it. You can adjust the throw according to your liking. I've heard mixed reviews about the Steeda, and nothing but good things about MGW. I guess it depends on how much coin you want to spend.

ive had bbk, pro 5.0, steeda, mgw, all in various cars. most of them vibrate and make noise especially the bbk and pro 5.0. Mgw is by far the way to go. no noise. no vibration.

Hey Eric: I love my MGW! But, it does take some getting use to. If you have never shifted a shifter with centering springs it may feel strange at first. It's built very solid, has no slop whatsoever. Missed 2nd-3rd shifts from torque bind are gone gone gone. Install is very well instructed & 1/2 hr simple. I have read that Shelby is coming out with their own shifter for 5 & 6 speeds soon. May be worth the wait? Go here & download catalog in pdf, it's on page 5 or so.
