Default Another tranny thread?

This time we're talkin' major surgery for The Jazzer ... on the VIXN silly

Getting tired of the bearing howl on the T3650 trans and going to get myself a remanufactured/rebuilt one from Modern Driveline. Bruce there is going to build me one with all the upgrade goodies Tremec recommended back during the recall several years back. My car was probably included in the recall, but doubt it was done.

On a side note, got my SVT Focus pump today and will be installing it next week. This Friday, galpal and I are heading back to Disneyland for a 5 day flex-pass to visit Mickey Last time he drank me under the table and this time..... he is gonna pay

If I had ABSOLUTE control over all the gear ratios, I would strongly consider it. As it stands, I have no use for heavy duty or compound low 1st gear as in the 6 speed.

I am contemplating going King Cobra clutch and billit flywheel as I was unable to replace my FW last time due to VIN number issue. Probably not though.

Default Trans

Hey Jazzer, I would strongly recomend upgrading to a six speed trans. I had the 3650 in my car, then had it upgraded and I was not happy with it at all. The 3650 is a poorly designed trans. Even with the upgraded version i was not happy with it. I would recomned you go with an 03-04 Cobra tremec t56, with the 2.90 first gear, the F-body style t-56's have a 2.60 first gear I would stay far away from those. With the 2.90 first gear its not short at all, its great for 2v, as the 2v loves to rev. And 6th gear is a cruisers dream, if you do alot of highway driving/long trips you will be amazed at the mpg you get. In my mind the best thing i ever did for my car was the 6speed. If you have any questions let me know. Im guessing you have an 8 bolt crank? if so that would make the swap a piece of cake, you can get a stock cobra 8bolt flywheel.

Thanks, C

gear ratio's of the T3650:
1 - 3.38
2 - 2.00
3 - 1.32
4 - 1.00
5 - 0.68

gear ratio's of the T56:
1 - 2.97
2 - 2.07
3 - 1.43
4 - 1.00
5 - 0.80
6 - 0.62

I actually REALLY like the 5th gear ratio FAR better than the drop I get from 4th to 5th currently. I am not as excited in the gap between 1st and 2nd (or 2nd and 3rd, for that matter) so will need to research it a bit. Remember, I am running 245/285 and don't have numbers of Cobra or S/C'd rides.

I will have to drive my car and do some close attention to see what differences it may make to me.

Just wanted to give some BIG props to the gloo for his suggestion of a T-56 for The VIXN

It is absolutely S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-E-R to have this new gear. I didn't realize how many 50~60 mph zones I drive in and how much it sucked. I had to choose to run at 2600 4th or 1600 rmp 5th to travel all over Napa and stay at the speed limit. I now wonderfully cruise at 2100 rpm in my new 5th and not bog at 55

Much love to the gloo

I mean... don't get me wrong or anything, I'm not or anything. I just think it is OK for a man to express feelings to another man and not have anyone get all weirded out or take it the wrong way like I am attracted to him or anything CUZ I'M NOT but think it should be cool to be like all thank you in more than just a friend kinda way but not a gay-way.....(ok, I'm gonna shut-up now)
